COMPANY HISTORY
R & R Music Centre began modestly in 1975 as R & R School of Music partnered by Bill Roberts and Cecilia Rich giving music lessons. Bill had been giving guitar lessons in a local music store for several years and Cecilia instructed Piano, together they decided to open there own music school. The school quickly grew and more teachers were hired and a larger location was found.
Wanting to provide the local community with musical instruments and services, the partners of Rich and Roberts incorporates and in 1979, R & R Music Centre Ltd. opens its doors in North Delta. Much of Bills youth had been spent in his fathers woodwork shop where he learned much about working with wood. In junior high school Bill played various brass instruments, trumpet/baritone horn/alto horn etc. in the school band (Bill first began playing the trumpet at age 7), but it was the sixties and influenced by The Beatles, The Animals, The Who, all made the guitar more exciting and Bill switched to playing guitar and at the same time began a fascination with electronics. A corner of his fathers workshop was quickly converted to an electronics bench where Bill began making small electronic devices. Bill desperately wanted an amp large enough to play in a band with his school mates but couldnt afford the cost, so armed with a borrowed schematic of a Fender Bandmaster, Bill built his own tube amp at the age of 14.
The new store sold guitars, amps, pianos, music books and accessories, with a small shop in the back where Bill did guitar and amp repairs.
In 1981 R & R Music Centre and R & R School of Music moved into one location. The business continued to grow employing 10 instructors and expanding its selection of instruments and accessories. In 1986 R & R Music Centre moves again into a larger location.
1994 was a pivotal year for R & R Music Centre, Bill would buy Cecilias share in the company to become the sole
shareholder and owner and move the store and music school across the street to its current location at 8291 Scott
Rd. in Delta, of nearly 3,000sq.ft.
